The Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame and Museum is unique in Canada. It is the only provincial basketball hall of fame and museum with a permanent site, prominently located on the 2nd floor of the Duckworth Athletic Centre at the University of Winnipeg, within the mezzanine and spectator entrance area. It is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. except statutory holidays and charges no admission. We are a Hall of Fame and a Museum. The central focus of the Hall of Fame is a large Honoured Members display, holding the nameplates of the over 100 players, teams and builders inducted into the Hall. The central focus of the Museum is a collection of over 5,000 items, including Hall member memorabilia/artifacts, pictures, scrapbooks, apparel, various publications, and many other artifacts related to basketball and Manitobans.

Mission

The mission of the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame is to induct into the Hall players, teams and builders for their outstanding achievements in the sport of basketball in Manitoba as well as to preserve and showcase the rich history of basketball in Manitoba.

To meet these ends, the Hall of Fame Committee

  • Organizes and hosts Hall of Fame Induction Dinners;
  • Develops and maintains two Hall sites, an actual and a virtual site.

The site is prominently located within the mezzanine and spectator entrance area at the University of Winnipeg’s Duckworth Centre. The central focus of the Hall of Fame is a large wall-mounted oak plaque which lists the over 100 athletes, teams and builders that have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since its inception in 1983.
