    Biography
    After moving to Brandon in 1942,"Curly" immediately began referring basketball throughout the military centers throughout the area, including Winnipeg. The next year, he organized and coached a girls'
    basketball team in Brandon. In 1942, he organized a second team. Both teams played exhibition games with teams from the Women's Division of Army and Airforce Stations.

    In 1945, he organized and coached the "Queens". In 1948, he organized the Junior "Queens". These two teams were the only teams playing organized basketball in Brandon at that time. Between 1948 and 1951, the "Queens" won Junior and Intermediate Inter-Provincial Competitions in Fort William, Winnipeg, Moose Jaw, and Regina.
